Robotbase introduced their robot prototy earlier this month at CES 2015 in Las Vegas. The company operates on crowdfunding campaign that reached up to $127,000. All these times, people only use two types of robot, toy and industrial. It creates a gap of consumer robot, a complete tool that can be kept around the house and work. Robotcase designed its robot to have various capabilities. It gets smart technology of face and expression recognition. It can also take candid photo from events. It’s installed with Apple’s Siri’s digital assistant features to make it able in recognizing tone of speech and respond, also relay information on the weather, arrange schedule, and play music on your playlist. It works on artificial intelligence to make it understand the meaning of words. The first prototype is named Maya, taken female form personal assistant. With all those impressive features, Robotbase is still working on to make other customizable faces, voices, and also names for their robots as it seemed that there are more people concern on faces and names of the robot instead of technical capabilities that it can do.

Exterior design is not the only concern that Robotbase has on their robot. The company works the best as they can to develop robot’s software. It’s based on a set of machine learning algorithms. It works to identify patterns contained in information and then match it with recognizable things. It’s pretty much copying how human brain works. The same technology was first introduced by Google in 2012 to recognize cats in Youtube videos. Robotbase choosed Android operating system to support this personal assistant robot. It also gives more freedom for software developers to build their own apps for the robot. Furthermore, Robotbase wants to come up with a platform instead of a product. As personal robot, Robotbase designed the prototype to have access to your personal habits and preferences. However, the company will put privacy as its main concern as it won’t share personal data to anyone. For now, the company only has a prototype for its robot, but they are working their best to launch the commercial model of their personal assistant robot by the end of 2015. The first units cost $1,000 each, while the final retail price will reach the price of $1,500 and $2,000 each.
